Middle School Friend

Desiree Omli

Desiree and I have shared countless memories together.  I first met Des when we were in 8th grade at Leadership Camp.  We were assigned to share bunk beds, so naturally we fought over who got the top bunk…but instead, we stayed up all night talking, laughing and realizing what an amazing friendship was developing.  Since that night at camp, our friendship continued to grow as we entered high school together and found that we had even more in common.  Our love for ASB, boys, education, having fun and just being “crazy” together had made us inseparable.  We spent our high school years together laughing, hanging out after school and on weekends, planning school functions, spending countless hours couponing, hosting car washes, and even scheming how to sneak older boys into prom.  We then took our friendship to the campus of UW where we were not only roommates, but we experienced the college life together and grew even closer.  When you meet Desiree you will understand when I say that there is never a dull moment around her.  Her contagious (and sometimes violent) laugher will keep you smiling even hours after the fact.  She is not only humorous and outgoing, but she is a leader and one of the strongest, most passionate people I have ever met.  She has endured some of the hardest challenges in life and has successfully risen from all of them.  After undergrad we graduated and she left us for San Diego to go to Law School where she found a new means to utilize her passions.  I was so happy when Desiree and her boyfriend Steve decided to come back home to “Re-en” to continue their careers as lawyers.  Although we are “professionals” now and she is a practicing Attorney in Seattle and I am in the Tri-Cities, we are still close and I am excited to have her as one of my bridesmaids!
